Working with horses engages clients in experiential learning that provides immediate feedback. Horses teach us about leadership, relationships, communication, holding boundaries, responsibility to ourselves and others, empathy and a host of other practical skills needed to make our way in the world. Successfully interacting with horses requires honing observation skills, employing creative problem solving and engaging in team work.

Many people already have what they need. Closed toe/heel shoes like sneakers, hiking boots, walking shoes or tennis shoes are required. It is recommended that you wear long pants such as jeans or leggings. Long, loose or flowing garments such as dresses, dangling earrings and shawls can be a safety hazard. You will receive information specific to your activity before you arrive.
-
Many people arrive afraid of horses and leave with a new understanding of horses and confidence in their own ability to interact with them safely. Let us know before you arrive that you have a fear and we will take that into consideration when making teams and designing your session. We will meet you where you are.

Lessons will be canceled only if the weather is dangerous. Participants are expected to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Rain and snow are not typically reasons for cancellation unless flooding is expected or the roads have been officially closed by a government entity. Lotus Farm will communicate with you or your group ahead of time if potentially dangerous weather is forecast to discuss possible rescheduling.
