Frequently asked questions.
How Does Working with horses help people?
Working with horses engages clients in experiential learning that provides immediate feedback. Horses teach us about leadership, relationships, communication, holding boundaries, responsibility to ourselves and others, empathy and a host of other practical skills needed to make our way in the world. Successfully interacting with horses requires honing observational skills, employing creative problem solving and engaging in team work.
Do I need to wear special clothes to work with horses?
Yes but you should have most of these things in your closet already.
Closed toe and closed heel shoes are a must.
Fitted clothing and long pants are ideal. Long flowing clothing that can be caught in fencing or equipment is a safety hazard for everyone involved and will not be allowed in the learning areas.
Expect to get dirty. You will be in a working farm environment with a variety of animals present.
Dress appropriately for the weather. You may encounter rain, mud, snow, summer sun or winter weather.
Anyone under 18 or who will be participating in a horseback riding lesson must wear an ASTM/SEI approved riding helmet. Helmets designed for other sports do not meet these standards.
